My Story
by "Null Space"

This was my first GM'ing and I was with a group of good friends who were all going to go easy on me and not harass me for my blatant mistakes except for one (our previous GM) who was going to be a real Rule Nazi on me.

So the event began.

The adventurers had to make their way through a nice swamp complete with fog and noises. Well, with fog comes fog giants, three to be exact. Most of the travelers immediately thought to run away and not risk dying. All except the martial artist. He was quite arrogant (with good reason) and decided that he was going to take these giants down, solo if need be. So he runs up and takes off a kneecap. One down and screaming, to be dealt with later. Then the old GM (a wizard) starts off on how this isn't the real behaviors of fog giants and I wasn't doing the rolls correctly, so he gets hit by one giant and is near unconscious lying on the ground. The martial artist takes out his knife and hamstrings the fallen one to make sure he doesn't get up. Seeing the great performance, the others decide to join in.

The rest of the party (a rogue, mentalist, and archer) starts running up, weapons ready to the fight. The rogue does nothing of great note. But the archer makes my day. The old GM is now complaining about how he should get a roll to mend his wounds and get back in battle. I am having none of this. He is done. The archer is running up with his light crossbow ready for a kill. Now he is aiming and not really watching where he is running, so he trips and misfires....straight up. I look at my hex grid and tell the unfortunate archer to make his roll to see where it lands. He makes his roll and I look it up. The biggest smile and most evil laugh ever follows. It is like slow motion for the wizard, archer running, tripping, firing. The arrow flies straight up, falling down to land perfectly in the wizard's leg.

He makes a remark about how the odds were so horribly on his side, so he gets to make a critical roll. 100. The arrow goes through his eye and he is done. I am happy. The martial artist and the rest take down the giants and all is done.

The old wizard has yet to comment on my other campaigns.
