Stupid Warrior Mage
by Alexander Franco in Sweden

Ok this story is about a warrior mage who has the worst reputation amongst my roleplaying friends.
I started of as a paladin fighting evil and helping my village which I was the law enforcer over. Every time I came there they always seemed angry at me for no apparent reason. I had a warrior mage under me: a non NPC who seemed to be the most stupid mage too. I never witnessed his stupidity but the village did.

Anyways, I had him under my wing all the time but he kept thinking that he deserved more respect so he teleported himself away from me, to the only place he had been to—the village. He fumbled and was now stuck in the roof top of the tavern which was made made of cow s*it. He then landed down in the tavern with everyone shocked (they had never seen magic) he saw fear in their eyes and said: "I am a mighty mage...bow before me!" And so they did. "Good, now fetch me a horse and place it here besides me and put all the villagers money under it!" They did that too. Then he stood there with all the villagers money under a horse in the tavern. He looked around and saw a beautiful girl and said to her: "You will help me carry my money as I leave this tavern." The tavern owner refused to give away his daughter and drew his sword. The mage was shocked and began to run out. He then turned around and sent a couple of firebolts against the tavern burning it to ashes feeling quite pleased with himself.

He then teleported himself back to me. I asked were he had been and he still wouldn't answer. He later explained that he was a great mage and that I didn't respect him (wonder why!?). I later returned to the village, and lets just say I had a peasant revolt against me were I had to defend myself killing innocent peasants creating a mayor revolt in all of the land—just my luck. The mage was happy though since he now saw a reason to burn the village down—which he did.

Let's just say my good paladin ended up as a dark paladin as I spent the whole campaign punishing the peasants for attacking me for no reason. My next character killed the mage—it was my own quest.

The Last Elf City
by Alexander Franco in Sweden

Well, this was a ongoing campaign were evil had grown in the country to the point were we had no choice but to fight back. I was the typical hero mage who tried to do good and fight evil with my slapstick psycho friend another non npc.

We had come far in our search for those to oppose evil and had a bunch of artifacts with us. I had a box of summoning which if you would know how to use could be useful, but I had not grasped its powers since I had tried to use it in combat,
rolling pretty low all the time. So the only thing it helped me with was getting cute bunnies and frogs to come to my assistance. Anyway, I had always hidden this box from my companion because of his evil heart and stupidity.

We had finally found the elf city—the last one. We couldn't see it, but the elves that had brought us there to help them looked at the sky and the elf city appeared in front of us. We were on our way and we flew up to the city with the help of giant birds. When we reached the city we were escorted to a house were we would stay the night so that I had plenty of time to meet with the council I departed through the city to meet them. I left my friend in the house with my belongings and I hoped he wouldn't do anything stupid.

While I was gone my companion glared at the magic bo— it looked kinda like a slot machine were you pull the lever. He thought and thought and then jumped forward pulling it and laughing. He now rolled the dice 96.97...99..94..78 and was very happy. He was a kinda surprised when a big big big big monster appeared out of the box with 20 heads that were breathing acid. He quickly grabbed the box and ran. Meanwhile I was still walking through the city while I noticed this giant monster covering a third of the city surface killing and destroying everything. The giant monster was also causing the flying Elf city to lean off-balance more and more.

I was struck with panic and grabbed onto a house to keep from falling down to my doom. Many minutes later I had managed to survive and the last elf city was now destroyed and me and my companion meet again. We were both shocked over this event but ventured on to fight evil everywhere.

He never revealed what really happened and how he managed to destroy the last elf city. Lets just say that with him around evil would always win.

Barricade
by Alexander Franco in Sweden

I'm Alexander Franco in Sweden and I've been playing Rolemaster for about 7 years but there was moment that was real special and annoying! Ok, this is not actually a RM Moment, but more a topic of irritation.

Ok picture me with my useful hero characters and my psycho friend of a mentalist and my other friend of sorcery. We had finally found the lost city in a great crater we were about to reopen it. While a noble man with a short temper (another roleplayer) was thinking about the same thing. He was wondering in the city about the time we all found it so we captured the nobleman and began an interrogation of him.

During the interrogation we noticed a tentacle sticking out of his arm pit. That's when my brilliant psycho mentalist friend wanted to humiliate him. By ordering him to stick the tentacle up his "behind", which he manages with use of magic we were all laughing except one person. We later let him leave in shame as we laughed. Only the thing was, that the city was in a crater and there was only one way up—by the stone stairs.

So we had no idea that our noble friend had a whole army up the stairs but we soon noticed when we got barricaded with no way of leaving. In play time we were barricaded for 4 hours trying to figure out how long it would take to get by the use of stone to earth and making small guerilla attacks on the army. But alas, we were still stuck and we were getting pretty tired and asked (outside of the game) if he would do something if the campaign would end in an epic barricade. No answer...hmmmmm.

Outside the game, our nobleman was going to see his girlfriend and couldn't continue playing and whispered to our gamemaster. We pled and begged for him to stop barricading us since he was not going to play so that we could continue he said he would, and left. Let's just say we spent another 4 hours doing nothing that was my worst moment of doing nothing. But we will never forget what he had done and we occasionally beat him up even if it was 5 years ago.

The Trial of Ordeal
by Peter Naegele

'Twas a clear summer morning when the Imperial Court of Drona had to pronounce judgements in the cases of "Kingdom Tasalin versus Storm of Winterfell" and "Tempel of Hador versus Darneok".

Thus the Imperial Judge of Drona spoke: " Storm from Winterfell, you're accused of inciting the uprising against King Heindrik II of Tasalin on July 4th resulting in the death of several hundreds of men, women and children and in total destruction of one third of the Royal City Lindwang. And you, Darneok, Brother of Light, are accused of treading the Highpriest Arnulf, Abbot of the Hadortemple on the same day. As it has been explained by witnesses you kicked him in the face and tried to steal away from him a magical book, you handed out to him only five minutes ago of your own free will. Your deed would have been successful, hadn't the Temple guards overwhelmed you. Both deeds are of such unbelievable vileness, the Imperial Court could normally find no other punishment than death. But according to the service you've done to the Empire of Drona and to the Emperor himself, the High Court is not able to pass this judgement on you. We thus ask a higher instance to speak right and deliver you into the hands of the Five And Six. May the Gods decide your case. Storm of Winterfell and Darneok, Brother of Light may justice find you in the Trial of Ordeal."

This trial was the outcome of the very strange and (for me as the Gamemaster nearly unacceptable) behavior of two player characters in my group. Truly spoken I was about to kill them, but I wanted to let them one last little chance. I felt a little guilty myself, because I didn't stop things earlier and let them slip out of hand.

So I decided to send them into the arena and have them fight against two stronger opponents. Those were the PCs and NPCs (RM 1. Edition)involved:

Storm from Winterfell (PC) second level Chevalier, mounted on a light Warhorse, armed with sword and shield.

Argbold Dargwhala(NPC), fourth level Fighter, also mounted on a light warhorse, armed with Morning Star, Sword and Shield and sworn enemy of the Winterfell - clan.

Darneok(PC), first level High Warrior Monk, member of the Brotherhood of Light, unarmed but skilled in MA-Sweeps and Throws (as far as a firstie can be skilled)

Hinrich the Beauty(NPC), third level Fighter, armed with two scimitars and maxed in Two-weapon-Combo.

This was the outcome of the fight:

First round:
Hinrich is first, leaping with artistic jumps against Darneok, the girls on the ranks are sighing because he looks sooooo good...but then: he attacks and....fumbles. His result on the fumble table is a 96, he is stunned for three rounds and may not parry.

Darneok is next: He attacks Hinrich, his roll resulting in a C-critical on the Sweeps and Throws table. Darneok rolls 95. Foe is down and in the grip of the attacker. He is unable to move for fifteen rounds...Darneok uses the next rounds to strangle him, so we can ignore those two from now on.

Meanwhile Argbold and Storm are attacking each other on horseback. Argbold strikes first and hits Storm hard with his Morning Star. Storm looses on third of his HP, has to withstand a C-Crit and drops from his horse, resulting in the loss of another 5 HP and an A-Crit, but both the C-Crit and the A-crit are rolled below 5 so he just looses another point. Still he may not attack this round.

Second turn:

Argbold stops his steed from full speed and tries to turn, but failing in his riding check, his horse rears and Argbolds drops to the ground loosing some HP. Meanwhile Storm is getting up on his feet again and charges for his enemy.

Third turn:

Storm reaches Argbold, who is on his feet already but has lost initiative. Storm strikes with his Sword: 96, 98,78 plus bonus resulting in something far over 300. Argbold is hit very hard and takes a crushing Crit. Storm rolls a 91 and Argbold has only 1 HP left. But who cares, he is downed for six rounds then he'd die...if only Sturm wouldn't cut off his head first.

This fight didn't only leave two dead NPCs within three rounds, but also a stunned GM....if this wasn't divine judgement, than what?
