I and my party of 5 middle-level characters heard about a fire drake that was terrorizing a small village. Our party consisted of the following: I played a high-man warrior monk, Brent the ranger, Ed the fighter, Dave the mentalist, and the second Dave was a hobbit thief.
We decide to investigate and if possible kill the drake (if it wasn't to old). We spent a few days searching the area 'till we found what looked like a drake's cave. The hobbit crept up to the cave but it was too dark to see in. He waved us up. While he was investigating the entrance he heard someting coming out of the cave. He quickly climbed up the cliff wall and hid in some rocks about 5 feet off the ground to the right of the entrance. The rest of the party moved up slowly.
When we got within about 50ft of the cave openeing the mentalist prepped pain, the ranger and fighter prepped bows and I prepped adrenal speed. We were all prepped and ready for a big battle, when what comes out of the cave but... a baby drake! Lucky for us, in an earlier adventure the hobbit found a potion of baby drake control. So very quickly, before the rest of the party could kill the baby drake, the hobbit drinks his potion and jumps down in front of the drake and says "obey me". This worked fine for a while, but during the next round the control potions wears off and the baby drake fries the hobbit!
